Right outside the CSL bay we encountered a large pod of spinner dolphins and stayed with them watching them teaching their babies the joys of jumping for about 20 minutes. On our way to our shark spot we made a stunning sighting, coming right towards us and at its closest no more than 30ft from our boat a gigantic Fin Whale! What a pleasure to encounter the second largest animal ever to live on earth and also the fastest swimmer in the cetacean family! Unfortunately he/she did not hang around very long (10 mins) and used that epic speed to ditch us on the way to some other more important task, ah the life of a whale. Upon arriving at the shark spot we chummed for about an hour before an extremely large female silky arrived, bullish and confident she went stright at the fish head we had in the water! After spending a few minutes with her in the water I cleared our guests for entry and we spent the next hour cautiously sharing our space with a large and confident predator. We never felt threatened but she did come thrillingly close on a number of occasions. We also had another smaller female who was more cautious in the presence of her larger and bolder counterpart.

An excellent safari!
