We set out form the Marina at 10am, the sun high in the sky and the water looking very wonderfully blue.
We started the morning discussing on the pacific ocean looking for whales. We came across about 8 whales in different behaviors, some were traveling, some were slapping their fins, a group of males were in competition behavior and we even go to see a mother and calf as they set off on their northern migration back to their feeding grounds. We put the hydrophone in the water and luckily there was a when singing very close by, the sing was loud and vibrant sounding through our boat speakers as everyone listened in awe.
We decided to chum in the sea of Cortez at one of our regular spots and it did not disappoint. We had an interaction with 2 large male blue sharks. The blue sharks are friendly and curious. They love to get personal and can easily make an impression with their large eyes.
These sharks are the most commonly finished shark in the world and we feel honored to share the water with them.
Another awesome day on safari.
